Great Expawctations
If you've ever visited a cat cafe outside of North America, and then visited one in North America, you probably had wildly different experiences at each. You may have even been disappointed if you were unsure of what to expect.
We don't want you to be disappointed when you visit Kitties & Cream, so we're gonna let you know what to expect when we open.
Due to strict health laws in Canada, our establishment requires a unique layout that makes serving food and drinks a little tricky. Essentially, our space will be split into three main areas.
When you first walk in the door, you will be entering our mew-tique (boutique, in case you don't get our terrible cat puns). Here, you can purruse our meowchandise (ha, we're on a roll!) and check-in for your reservation. This is considered the "neutral" area. From there, you can enter the cafe or the cat lounge.
In the cafe, you'll find our selection of delicious food and drinks, which you can order to-go (in recyclable or biodegradable cups and containers, 'cause we're not allowed to serve it in regular cups and plates), and you'll also find a large obspurrvation window where you can peek into the cat lounge. We aim to serve quality, local-made foods and drinks that are unique and can't be found elsewhere, so you are always invited to come order food and drinks even when you're not visiting the cats.
In order to enter the cat lounge, you must have a reservation and you will be escorted by our host at your reserved time, who will go over the cat lounge rules. While we want to create a cool, fun environment for those looking to hangout with some cute cats, the safety of our cats and our customers is our priority. Some of these rules include, but are not limited to, sanitizing your hands before entering, not picking up cats, not disturbing sleeping cats, and no yelling or running. Children under 5 years old will not be permitted in the cat lounge, and children between 5 and 10 years old will only be permitted in the cat lounge when accompanied by an adult, with a maximum of two children per adult.
Most of the cats you meet in the cat lounge will be adoptable, however there may be a few resident cats. We have not yet established a partnership with any rescues or shelters, but are planning to have a mixed model so it's guaranteed there will always be cats in the cat lounge.
Special events will be occurring regularly to keep your calendar full! Yoga with cats, movie night with cats, Paint Nite with cats, study with cats, wine with cats... 'Cause everything is better with cats. If you have any event ideas, feel free to contact us, because we're always looking for more things to try!
Hopefully this overview gives you an idea of what to expect when you visit us in the future. We couldn't be more excited to open soon!
