Two years ago I decided to embark on a journey towards starting a cat cafe.
At the time, I had no idea what it took to start a business. There were no examples to follow, as no other cat cafes exist on the island. I simply had a dream and determination.
There's a lot of fun that comes with starting a cat cafe, like picking a menu, creating Pinterest boards full of inspiration for decor and meowchandise, brainstorming events I can host, connecting with the community, etc. However, beyond the fun things there are many daunting tasks that are crucial to building a successful business, like writing a business plan, creating a cash flow statement, applying for permits, negotiating a lease, etc. This has taken far longer than anticipated and has been the most difficult thing I've ever done. Some days I feel like giving up, but I'm proud of the progress I've made and I'm excited to keep pushing towards making this dream a reality. It finally feels like things are coming together. Becoming an entrepreneur is fucking terrifying, but it's so goddamn rewarding.
Your support carries me through the tough moments. I appreciate every interaction my posts get on Facebook and Instagram. I appreciate every purrrchase you make. I appreciate everyone who has reached out to offer advice and/or support. I look forward to seeing all of you when the cat cafe opens. While I still don't have a set opening date, I'm aiming for August 2020. Will you come to the grand opening?
